Road Trippin'

Hello! We've just returned from our week long vacation a little more east of here. I'll tell these stories mostly in pictures.

Ben packed the important things.

We saw lots and lots of mountains.

Mostly, the kids slept.

Finally, we arrived in Williamsburg, VA and checked into the Red Roof Inn. After dumping our stuff in the room, we hurried over to Busch Gardens to spend a couple hours before they closed for the evening. (No pictures from that night, we were too excited I guess, LOL)

The next day (Saturday) we knew we shouldn't even attempt visiting an amusement park. According to my husband's sage advice, "Nobody goes to amusement parks on Saturday, it's too busy."

Indeed.

Since Michael and the older 2 boys love history, I just like to go places, and Ben can be loud and run from us anywhere, we decided to visit Yorktown. They have a museum that is so new that the indoor exhibits aren't even open yet, but they do have this statue outside.

There's an encampment set up outside with lots of actors. They fire a very loud cannon.

Ben didn't care about much other than the ducks and chickens that were just running free.

Wyatt and David got to help out in the "Turning flax into clothing" demonstration.

After that, we went on a Park Ranger guided walking tour of the Yorktown battlefield.
Mostly, the pictures were of just grass. This overlook of the York River was really pretty though.

To conclude our day, we went on a driving tour of the outer areas of the battlefield. Again, mostly grass and signs. I did find a few neat things. Some cannons, turtles and a boat.

By the end of our driving tour, it was late enough to get checked in at our new hotel.

More tales from our adventure to follow...
